Autonomy
St. Francis has the distinction of being the first college in the twin
cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad to implement autonomy, which was
conferred on the college by the University Grants Commission, through
letter no. 724 – 7/87(NFC) dated 9th May 1988. Last year, the post graduate
courses were declared to be autonomous. While the college remains affiliated
to Osmania University, it has autonomy in matters of:
- Curriculum design
- Pattern of examinations
- Evaluation
- Admission of students
Implications of Autonomy
Autonomy brought in its wake a new wave of creativity. The college follows
a choice and credit-based semester system. The highlights of the changes
under autonomy are:
- The curriculum has been designed to include projects.
- Presentations, slip tests, quiz and other such forms of testing are used to assess the extent of student learning.
- Classroom sessions are technology-assisted and learner-centric.
- We emphasize continuous assessment to ensure consistent academic performance.
- Quality assurance through IQAC.
