Internet Access
The college provides free Internet access to students and faculty. All staff rooms are equipped with a desktop enabled for Internet access.
The systems in the Internet lab are to be used for research and study.Students find the lab to be an invaluable resource for obtaining information for their projects, presentations and term papers.Students are expected to use the facilities responsibly.Please note the following:
- Internet access is free for all students and teachers.
- The Internet lab currently has 26 systems.
- The lab is open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- A student has to record her name in a register and then she will be allocated a system.
- Browsing and access to email are permitted.
- Teachers can reserve the Internet lab in advance for an entire class if a lecture session requires Internet access.
What is not allowed?
- Chatting
- Skipping a regular class in order to use the Internet.
- Downloading or viewing objectionable or offensive content.
- Use of flash drives or CDs.
- Talking loudly or doing anything that could disturb the other users.
Internet Search Tips
The Internet is an invaluable source of information; at the same time it is a jungle, for all kinds of information abound. We need access to information that is reliable and authentic. Here are a few tips for an effective search:
- Don't rely on any information that does not mention its author.
- If an article has an author, verify the credentials from the organization the author is associated with.
- For general information, look up an online encyclopedia.
- If your search engine shows too many results, use more keywords to refine your search.
- If your search yields very few results, use several search engines.
- If your topic is very specific, use a meta search engine like Browsys or Dogpile. These list results from multiple search engines.
