Caring for the Environment
St Francis is deeply committed to protecting the environment. Our efforts
to promote a green environment are:
- A course titled Environment Studies is compulsory for all first year students.
- The environment club Prakruthi is actively engaged in creating awareness among the youth of the threats to our environment. Students from all faculties are members of this club.
- The college has taken the initiative of rain water harvesting to conserve water resources.
- PRAKRUTHI, the environment club set up a waste management plant “Shubram” on December 21, 2009.
- The campus is going green with several lighting installations powered by solar energy.
- The Department of Microbiology organized a 2-day national seminar on “Climate change – its impact and adaptation” on 20th & 21st January, 2011.
- The college has adopted a five-day week in order to conserve fuel through reduced commuting.
