The Department of Commerce has imbibed the tradition of exploring new frontiers of knowledge and innovation in academics. It has redefined Commerce education in Andhra Pradesh. The college has the legitimate claim and pride of being the premier institute in AP for course curriculum development, teaching and research in Commerce discipline. The rapid growth of the department of Commerce is reflected in its expansion as well as novelty in its academic programs. This has led to the commencement of a Masters program in Commerce during the academic year 2002-2003.
The college offers specialization in M.Com – Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Taxation, International Business and Insurance. The elective is offered to the students only if the minimum strength is 15 for each specialization.
Objectives:
- To orient the students to advanced knowledge in the field of Commerce and encourage them to develop their teaching skills.
- To encourage students to take up research activities.
- To provide to the students current knowledge in the various fields of study and to prepare them for a career in Commerce.
Eligibility:
The students are eligible for admission into this program on completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. Each student is put through a process of selection and tested for her aptitude through a written examination which will be conducted in the month of May. 50% weightage is given for the marks secured in the entrance exam, and 50% for the marks secured at the Graduation level. Admissions are finalized based on the candidate’s merit. Students who have qualified the Osmania University P.G. Entrance exam will also be considered.
