Masters in Mass Communication & Journalism
From the Academic Year 2011 - 12, St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet introduces a Two Year (Four Semester) M.A in Communication and Journalism. The Focus of the course is to produce competent and qualified media professionals who we hope will be an asset to the media industry. The programme envisages providing the students both theoretical and practical exposure to media. The main areas that are covered are Electronic Journalism, Print Media, Photography, Media Management, Corporate Communication, Public Relations, Advertising and New Emerging Media. As part of the course students have to undergo a compulsory internship programme in any media organisation for 6 - 8 weeks. The students are encouraged to contribute articles/report major events for various media during the course.
Objectives:
- To familiarise the students with the working of both print and electronic media.
- To develop understanding of the role of the media in society.
- To develop an aptitude and competency to analyse and interpret media and events.
- Inculcate the skills to analyse and lead while working in a team.
- To develop working skills needed for newspapers, Magazines, Radio, T.V. and web Journalism.
- To develop research attitude and research skills to understand media and to make use of them.
- To develop understanding of development and its relationship with media.
- To develop writing skills for different formats of writing used in media.
- To sensitize students about human values, culture, development of society, environment etc. in relation to media.
- To develop competence to supervise and guide the working of media and the spirit of a team-head.

Eligibility:
Graduation in any discipline (B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech, B.E, LL.B, B.L, B.C.A) from any University, under University Act of India, with a minimum of 55% in the Undergraduate Course. Students who are awaiting their final year undergraduate results may also apply. Those who qualify in the Osmania University Master of Communication and Journalism (M.C.J) entrance examination are also eligible to apply.
