Research
St Francis College takes pride in its strong team of highly qualified, competent, dedicated and committed faculty who constantly endeavor to upgrade and update their knowledge, skills and qualifications. The management has been very supportive and has encouraged the faculty in research activities, participation in seminars, workshops, and symposiums at the state, national and international levels. Seed money for publication of Ph.D thesis is offered. Financial awards are announced for those who publish research papers in standard National and International Journals. Many departments like Commerce, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Social Work have taken up research projects in collaboration with external agencies.
Area for eXperimental Inquiry into Science (AXIS)
To expand campus research facilities for staff and students, the college has set up St. Francis Research Resource Center “AXIS” (Area for eXperimental Inquiry into Science) with a coordinator for research in life sciences. Latest equipment is provided in the lab for research.
Microbiology
The Department of Microbiology, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Shailaja Raj, has spearheaded research activities in the college. The department has been actively involved in research during the past decade. Current areas of research include Nanotechnology, Biofertilizer production, and isolation and characterization of salt rhizobia.
