Bachelor of Commerce - B.Com.

The Department of Commerce is well known for its innovative courses and its youthful yet highly qualified staff. It is the largest department in the college and caters to the needs of over 700 students each year. The department has been highly sensitive to the changing needs of the students and today offers five different streams of study.

B.Com. General

This is the core commerce course at the undergraduate level. The course has the advantage of being broad based and providing the students with exposure to a wide range of commerce subjects. A few seats are reserved under the open category to allow admission of students from other disciplines into the commerce stream.

  • To impart skills of organization/ presentation/ analysis and application.
  • To help meet current market needs and face future challenges.

Course Structure

B.Com Professional

This course is designed to meet the changing needs of the industry and job market. Its unique feature is that it offers the students in the final year the option to specialize in finance or marketing thereby giving them an edge when they pursue post graduation with either of these options. Project work is an integral part of the course.

Course Structure

B.Com IPP

There is an increasing demand for commerce courses that fulfill the requirements of students planning to take up a professional program such as CA, ICWA and CS. The new under graduate program, B. Com IPP has been introduced to provide quality college education to students pursuing professional courses in commerce.

Course Objectives

  • To offer a broad based course in commerce which will prepare students for professional courses.
  • To provide for exemption and credit transfer on clearing various subjects in professional examinations.
  • To support students pursuing professional courses by arranging additional coaching in collaboration with the professional bodies.

Course Structure

B.Com. Computers

This course has the right mix of commerce and computer applications and students acquire hands-on training in using computers for commerce. The curriculum has been designed to provide IT skills that are most sought after in the workplace. In the final year, students of this stream are allowed to specialize in finance or marketing which gives them an edge when they pursue postgraduation with either of these options. The students do computer based project work in the final year.

  • To understand how information and communication technology has changed coomerce.

B.Com. International Business

This course which is the only one of its kind at the undergraduate level, adds an international flavor to the subject of commerce and prepares students to face the current global economy. The course is broad based and exposes students to a wide range of core commerce subjects with special focus on International business. It is offered to students from the commerce as well as other disciplines.

Course Objectives

  • To expose students to Export / Import Procedures and concepts.
  • To impart skills of organization/ presentation/ Analysis and application.
  • To provide on the job training in the field of International Business.
